New York Giants defensive tackle Shaun Rogers reportedly had around $500,000 worth of jewelry stolen from him while staying at the Fontainbleau Hotel in Miami.
Rogers and a group of his friends went out to the hotel's nightclub when they met a woman who eventually accompanied them back to the hotel room around 7 a.m. At that point, Rogers said he stashed his jewelry away in the room's safe and the party continued until he fell asleep. When he awoke around 12:30 p.m., the woman was no longer there.
Once he realized the woman was gone, he immediately became concerned with his jewelry. Rogers tried unsuccessfully to access the same safe in which he had put his valuables in just hours before, so he alerted hotel security. Hotel security then came into the room and was able to pry open the safe and found Rogers’ valuables were missing.
Among the notable items that Rogers claims were stolen include diamond earrings worth $100,000, two wristwatches worth a combined $160,000, and a diamond Cuban necklace with a gold pendant worth $70,000.
The 34-year-old joined the Giants in 2012 after previously spending time with the Saints, Browns, and Lions.
He did not appear in a single game last season after spending the year on New York's injured reserve list.
