Video: Fans injured in scary crash during Nationwide race at Daytona
A monumental crash occurred during the final turn of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Daytona Speedway on Saturday.
Fans were harmed after the No. 32 car of Kyle Larson went airbone into the safety barrier separating the track from the stands. The front part of Larson's car was completely severed as various amounts of other debris were sent spiraling into the stands. One fan was reportedly struck by a errant tire.
According to ESPN, Sergeant John Creamer of the Daytona Beach Police said at least 15 fans were injured. Eleven were sent to Halifax Medical Center, with one on the way to surgery with head trauma and listed in critical condition. Four fans were transported to Florida Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, and they are expected to be treated and released.
For what it is worth, Tony Stewart ended up taking the checkered flag, but fans in attendance will definitely remember this scary crash the most.
