On Saturday, the Tampa Bay Rays released their promotional schedule for the upcoming season. One thing to keep in mind here is that the Rays ranked dead last in attendance last year, so any added incentive to lure fans to Tropicana Field is a plus.
I suppose this is what drove the team to develop the Joe Maddon Gnome Bobblehead. It features the Tampa Bay skipper in his signature black spectacles and with his hands firmly planted inside his officially licensed Rays hooded sweatshirt. Oh, and he also appears to be wearing some ginormous shoes to go along with his extra pointy hat.
Fans can secure their super creepy bobblehead on Wednesday, April 24 when the Rays host the New York Yankess.
When asked what he thought about the figurine, Maddon jokingly said: "Hopefully I won't scare too many kids."
