Bicyclist struck and killed by cement truck as San Francisco Giants fans wait outside for annual fanfest

Tragedy struck Saturday morning at the San Francisco Giants FanFest when a bicyclist died after being struck and dragged by a cement truck in front of AT&T Park. Thousands of fans reportedly witnessed the accident occur as they waited outside the stadium to enter the event.

The incident happened at approximately 9:38 a.m. PST when a woman, who was believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, and the cement truck were traveling westbound along the street near AT&T park. According to police, the truck then collided with the bicyclist and dragged the victim a short distance before coming to a stop.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be involved and the truck driver is cooperating with investigators.

The woman was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital and was initially listed in very critical condition. She was pronounced dead within an hour and half of the collision at the hospital shortly before 11 a.m.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The free event lasted from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offered Giants fans the opportunity to interact and seek out autographs from members of the reigning World Series Champion Giants.

This year marked the 20th for the annual event.
