More bad news for former Atlanta Braves outfielder Andruw Jones.
Jones' wife has reportedly filed for divorce about a week after she accused him of domestic abuse. She alleged that he grabbed her neck and told her that he wanted to kill her during a spat on Christmas Day.
A divorce complaint filed Monday by Nicole Jones in a suburban Atlanta court says their 10-year marriage is "irretrievably broken."
According to a Gwinnett County police report, the pair had a fight around 1:30 in the morning on Dec. 25 after Nicole Jones asked her husband to help prepare their home for the morning. She told police that her husband dragged her down a staircase, grabbed her neck and said he wanted to kill her.
Mrs. Jones' lawyer declined to comment on the situation.
Jones most recently played in MLB as a member of the New York Yankees in 2012, but he is better known for his time spent with the Braves.
Jones is a 5-time All-Star and a 10-time Gold Glove Award winner. He has tallied 434 homers and 1,289 RBI in his professional career.
The 35-year old is currently a free agent.
