Unnamed Brooklyn Nets player being questioned for sexual assault in Philadelphia


An unnamed member of the Brooklyn Nets basketball squad and his "associates" are being questioned after a 21-year-old female filed a complaint alleging that she was sexually assaulted inside the Philadelphia hotel that the Nets are staying at. Brooklyn is slated to play the 76ers on the road at the Wells Fargo Center Tuesday night.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Philly.

The female complainant was taken to an area hospital for an examination. Investigators are waiting to question the woman before any decision will be made on potential charges.

The unnamed player and his associates were taken to the Special Victims Unit for questioning. They have all since been released.

The hotel released the following statement:

“The Philadelphia Police Department responded to a call to Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia early this morning (January 8). We are fully cooperating with the police investigation. We would advise all questions be directed to the Philadelphia Police Department at 215.686.3388.”

Update (12:53 PM) - The New York Daily News is reporting that the previously unnamed player is 26-year old forward Andray Blatche.

He tweeted the following shortly after the NYDN report:


The tweet has since been deleted by Blatche.

Blatche is averaging 11.1 PPG and 6.1 RPG this season. He has started seven of the team’s 34 games.
