Report: Tuiasosopo was the voice of Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend

Things just keep getting worse for Te'o

As if the Manti Te'o situation wasn't already bizarre enough, a new twist has emerged stemming from Te'o's taped interview Katie Couric. The full interview is set to air Thursday.

Milton Grimes, the lawyer for alleged hoax mastermind Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, told the The Daily News that the voice of who impersonated fake girlfriend Lennay Kekua was none other than his client.

The Notre Dame star linebacker believed he was talking to a female during phone conversations, when in fact it was Tuiasosopo pretending to bet he voice of Kekua.

"Come on. Hollywood does it all the time," Grimes said in defense of his client. He later added,"People can do that."

Tuiasosopo has had vocal and acting training the past, so it isn't far-fetched to believe he could have had the skills to pull of such a stunt.

"This wasn't a prank to make fun," Grimes told The News. "It was establishing a communication with someone. ... It was a person with a troubled existence trying to reach out and communicate and have a relationship."

Tuiasosopo is seeking mental health professional help and is eager to share his side of the story.
