Retired NFL player Hines Ward is ready for a resurrection, but it's probably not the kind you are thinking of. No, the former Pittsburgh Steeler isn't planning a comeback to football. He is scheduled to appear in the Feb. 10 episode of "The Walking Dead", instead.
"It was an amazing experience," said Mr. Ward, who will be a zombie extra when AMC's hit series "The Walking Dead" returns to haunt Sunday nights in a couple of weeks.
"Just being in makeup preparing me for my role was cool. I actually scared myself when I looked in the mirror for the first time after."
Ward currently works as a sports commentator for NBC. The 36-year old initially became interested in playing a part on the show after a former teammate at the University of Georgia played a character in past episodes.
"A former Georgia teammate of mine is one of the stars of the show, and my agent thought it would be something fun and different for me to do," Ward said.
Ward later added, "The show is so popular, and I thought it would be cool, so I agreed. And I had a blast doing it."
The 4-time Pro Bowler played 14 seasons in the NFL, all of which came with the Steelers. He is a 2-time Super Bowl champion and was named the Super Bowl MVP in 2006.
