San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has burst onto the NFL scene to help lead his team to a berth in the Super Bowl. But that isn't the only thing he has been up to lately. On Jan. 14, he reportedly filed for a trade to his signature pose with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The colorful Kaepernick has created an internet craze called "Kaepernicking" after a gesture in which he celebrates touchdowns by flexing his right arm and kissing his bicep.
Kaepernick, a second-year player out of the University of Nevada, has started nine NFL games and has led his team to Super Bowl XLVII against the Baltimore Ravens. Kaepernick has thrown for nearly 500 yards and three touchdowns in two playoff victories. He has the city of San Francisco and Twitter alike buzzing with his play on the field.
He becomes the latest football player to create a social stir over a signature pose. Tim Tebow, Robert Griffin, and Manti Te'o have all each garnered attention, as well.
