When it comes to poor free throw shooting you usually associate it with former NBA bigman Shaquille O'Neal. However, a new face of poor charity stripe tossing may have emerged from the pack on Saturday.
Seen here is Charlotte Bobcats forward DeSagana Diop chucking a free throw attempt that some are calling, "the worst free-throw miss in the history of professional basketball".
Watch as Diop's first shot attempt comes up several feet shy of simply drawing iron, resulting in a dreaded airball. Perhaps even more hilarious than the pitiful shot itself was the subtle, smooth reaction by Diop wiping his sweaty hands on his shorts afterward. Yeah, because the slickness of the ball was what resulted in the miss.
King James is at it again. This time he posterizes Chicago Bulls guard John Lucas by leaping up and over him for an alley oop slam. Can you say dunk of the year candidate?
In a scene reminscent of Adam Sandler's game-winning shot to win the gold jacket in the movie "Happy Gilmore", Irishman Graeme McDowell also used some props to help guide his golf ball to the hole during Sunday's final round at the Abu Dabhi HSBC Championship.
With his ball (and himself) wedged in a sand bunker and a shot at a third place finish on the line, McDowell launched his third shot on the 18th that went well past the pin only to ricocheted off the grandstand, sending the ball trickling back to within a few feet from the cup.
From there he tapped the ball in for a birdie, thus finishing his last round and earning himself a tie for third place. Not too shabby huh?
Meet Marcos Baghdatis, the pro tennis player who busted four tennis racquets in under a minute. The rage took place during a recent match at the Australian Open.
Let this be a lesson to all the coaches out there who venture outside the coach's box and onto the floor.
Seen here is Washington State head coach Ken Bone losing his feet and going down hard after attempting to call a TO versus Washington on Sunday night. To add insult to injury, his courageous Cougars fell to the Huskies 75-65.
This pic was snapped and submitted to The Ellen Degeneres Show by Nick E. from Henderson, Nevada. It is just one of several photos featuring some of the "Best Paid-For Tattoos" sent in to the popular TV show host.
"He's got Packers spirit yes he do(es), he's got Packers spirit how 'bout you?!"
One daring Chicago Blackhawks fan confessed his love for Comcast SportsNet Chicago reporter Sarah Kustok at center ice during intermission Thursday night in their game versus the Minnesota Wild.
Although he didn't win the "Shoot the Puck" contest, he may have just won over Kustok's heart.
Watch as Kustok - a former basketball plaer at DePaul University - is taken by surprise by the lovestruck Romeo.
Thanks goes to Greg Wyshysnki of Puck Daddy for the find.
Ever play that game where you try and see how long you can go without having a ball hit the floor or ground? How long does that usually last before ending in bitter failure? Answer: not very long.
If this sounds like you, feast your eyes on this. A video clip of a nearly two-minute long rally from a recent Chinese volleyball match. P.S. The normal length of a long volleyball rally is considered to be anywhere between 30-90 seconds...how's 120 sound?
Thanks goes to Chris Chase of Fourth-Place Medal for the story.
A word of caution to any Utah Jazz fans sitting in the team's lower bowl of the arena -- watch out for cake.
The following mishap took place during a Jazz home game, where as you can see, the team mascot loses the handle on a giant cake, sending it twirling down on some unsuspecting fans below.
Needless to say, I don't think their mascot will be trading their day job to become a waiter anytime soon.
Thanks to Kelly Dwyer of Ball Don't Lie for the story.
Ah, it appears as though tennis star Andy Roddick may be going through what some would refer to as a "mid-life crisis".
With his days as a pro tennis player dwindling, and his hair follicles dwindling even faster, the 30-year old is seemingly doing anything he can to keep himself afloat.
Seen in the picture above is the American rocking a fresh mohawk in preparation for his first tournament of the year. Unfortunately, neither his new look or his press-conference helped him in his debut as he lost to Gael Monfis in straight sets.
Meet Chris "Sky" Walker, a junior at Bonifay (Fla.) Holmes County High, and one of the top power fowards nationally in the Class of 2013.
In a recent game the 6'9" athlete could be seen throwing down a vicious dunk on an unsuspecting defender. Luckily for you, the video clip of that dunk can be seen below.
Walker is being courted by the top college basketball programs in the nation and currently holds 12 scholarship offers in all.
Only one thing could be better than Tim Tebow's game-winning, overtime TD pass to Demaryius Thomas over the weekend, reliving the moment using peanuts!
Since airing the actual NFL football would be too costly, host Conan O'Brien recreates the monumental play using peanuts for the players.
*Disclaimer* - What happens to the Steelers at the end of the clip is a slight dramatization.
Watch as Hadley Sejkora of Pawnee City (Neb.) High School nails a buzzer-beater from behind the backboard to give his squad a 39-37 win. Click here to read the full story.
Every now and then you see something in professional sports that is usually reserved for the amateur level. That kind of moment happened on Sunday to PBA bowler Josh Blanchard.
Watch as he lets the only thing worse than letting the ball slip in the gutter -- himself. The announcer's candid take says it all, "Oh my goodness gracious!".
In a script that could only be written by God himself, Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow continues to amaze.
Tied 23-23 in overtime and facing one of the most historically-stingy defenses in NFL history, the southpaw connected with wide receiver Demaryius Thomas for an 80-yard touchdown strike to end the game -- on the first play from scrimmage in OT.
If the following video clip doesn't make you laugh, you're not human.
Seen here is Seton Hall walk-on Peter Dill expressing his happiness for the Pirates' good fortunes. If only he'd work as hard on his roundball game as he does his antics, he'd be a consensus All-American.
Tigers coach Tabo Sweeney and the rest of Clemson players,
coaches and fans didn't know what hit 'em on Wednesday
There wasn't much to smile about for the Clemson Tigers after their 70-33 beatdown in the Orange Bowl on Wednesday night. And if the Tigers had to pinpoint one play when things really started going south, it would have to be this one.
Trailing 21-17 in the second quarter, but on the brink of a touchdown, Clemson running back Andre Ellington appears to jam his way in the endzone for a go-ahead score. Instead, West Virginia defensive back Darwin Cook emerges from the scrum with the football and takes the fumble 99-yards for a WVU touchdown -- a shocking turn of events indeed.
The score extended the Mountaineers' lead to 28-17, but the Co-Big East Champions weren't finished yet. QB Geno Smith and his team outpaced the dumbfounded ACC-Champion Tigers 21-3 over the rest of the quarter to take a 49-20 lead in the the half.
The 'Eers 49-point explosion was the most points scored by any team in the first half of a bowl game in history. That's ANY bowl game.
The University of Oregon football team sported some unusual-looking helmets in their 45-38 Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin.
Known for their propensity to mix up their gameday apparel, the Ducks lived up to that reputation mightily on Monday. The sleek, chrome design mirrored more of a fender from a muscle car than a protective football helmet. Nonetheless, the squad rode their new helmets and their Quack Attack to victory....even if it wasn't pretty.
