Cincinnati Reds third-base coach Mark Berry narrowly dodged a painful situation Tuesday night when he was able to evade a sharp foul ball struck by Brandon Phillips.
The play occurred during the bottom of the third inning in Game Three of the NLDS between the Reds and Giants in Cincinnati.
This scenario wouldn't have ended so well for many other folks, but Berry's cat-like reflexes saved the day in his case. The seven years he spent as a minor league catcher back in the '80s may have played a role in helping him avoid disaster. Hey, it couldn't have hurt right?
