Pittsburgh went from being in second place (2.5 GB) and 16 games over .500 (63-47) on August 9th to one game UNDER .500 (74-75) and in fourth place (16.5) as of Thursday night. That's a pitiful record of 11-28 during that span for all of you scoring at home. Their signature collapse has come to be expected these days, but even the lowly Houston Astros are snickering at the state of the Buccos right now.
That's because the Pirates are flirting dangerously close to their 20th consecutive losing season -- the longest such streak in North American professional sports history. They didn't help their cause on Thursday either as they were out-slugged by the Brew Crew by a tally of 9-7. At least you'll always have Steelers football, Pittsburgh.
