It's been a rough 24 hours in the clothing department area for Washington Nationals rookie phenom Bryce Harper. On Sunday, the Nats veterans partook in the usual rookie hazing by having all of the team's first-year players dress up as female gymnasts, including Harper. I don't know about you, but after seeing the pics of the spectacle on Twitter I think the guys should leave the leotards to Gabby Douglas and the rest of the Gold Medal U.S. Olympic Team.
On Monday, it was more of the same for Harper as the National League Rookie of the Year candidate experienced another odd wardrobe malfunction. As you can see in the video clip above, his attempt at a diving catch not only failed but he lost his belt in the process as well. Luckily, one of his teammates in the bullpen was generous enough to offer up their belt to replace his. I would say this act of kindness is a great testament to the team chemistry in Washington, but I'm reluctant to make such a statement given the fact that the guy who loaned Harper his belt was likely also in on the rookie hazing from the night before!
Nonetheless, the Nationals topped the Mets 5-1 to increase their division to six over the second-place Atlanta Braves. All is well that ends well, right Bryce?
